Kwesi Koomson ‘97 always knew he would return to his native Ghana. But when he left home as a teenager, he never could have imagined he would find a place for himself on two continents. He never could have foreseen he would find himself devoted to teaching privileged kids in America—and to bringing education and opportunity to deserving children in his homeland.

Kenneth Azarow, M.D., ’81

Kenneth Azarow’s days as an Army surgeon in Afghanistan were often mundane, following a rhythm of reading, eating and exercising. On evenings with military action, however, Azarow found himself operating on soldiers with severe trauma from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m.

I love language. I especially enjoy new words and expressions that are an unintentional result of too many thoughts running together. That’s one of the many reasons I love coaching Special Olympics. All it takes is one soccer tournament, and I have new expressions to last me a month. more
